Ubud Guide: Bars
While Ubud has a solid Eat Pray Love reputation, the town still knows how to let their hair down. Whether it’s been a long week, or you’re looking for a pre or post-dinner tipple, here are some of our go-to Ubud bars.

No Mas
Ubud’s take on a (somewhat curated) dive bar but make no mistake, there are experts at work behind the bar here. No Mas has been a late night staple on Monkey Forest Road for years now and is another spot to hit up for their regular live music gigs, themed nights and bartending “takeovers” from other epic venues outside of Bali. Check their Facebook page to see what’s on.

Dramatic views of the Sayan Gorge enjoyed while sipping on well-crafted cocktails? Sign us up. This venue has a variety of house cocktails on hand, but where they really shine is their extensive whisky list. If that’s your go-to tipple, you’ll be a happy camper here.

Divine Wine and Cocktail Bar (The Bridges)
Located under (you guessed it), Bridges and overlooking jungle, this is a special spot to cool down after a day of sightseeing. The wine list is one of Ubud’s best, and having a pre-dinner drink before heading upstairs to the restaurant is the makings of a great evening.

Copper at Bisma 8
Ubud is known for many things, but rooftop bars is not one of them – making Copper at Bisma 8 a unique spot. If a drink menu, “inspired by the thorough approach of the old world using a combination of exotic ingredients and refined techniques of the past” sounds like your cup of…gin, then definitely add this venue to your Ubud itinerary. They also host workshops on cocktail and Jamu making (more info on their website).

Room4Dessert
Room4Dessert is a bit of an institution in Ubud (and indeed, the whole of Bali). How many other restaurants featured on Netflix’s The Chef’s Table, and have an exclusively dessert-themed degustation menu? The accompanying drinks option is no less extraordinary than the food, as they say, “We have nice liquid-y things too. Days and nights spent in our garden apothecary and research and development center (The Manor Born) have yielded the most perfect-est accompaniments to all your degustationary dessert delights. ” Make sure to book ahead as this place fills up fast, and they have several months off a year as well (so it’s good to check it’s even open before getting your hopes up).

Night Rooster by Locavore
The incredibly cool bar offering from the Locavore team, with what one reviewer described as “the best cocktails ever”*. These are made from premium spirits are mixed with local fruits, herbs, vegetables and spices, plus some sort of first class bartending alchemy that we’ll never know. Night Rooster is on more “best of” lists than you can count, so it’s definitely worth adding to an Ubud Itinerary.

The Laughing Buddha
Although the drinks here are no laughing matter (hah!), the vibe and live music are the real draw to this bar. Take a look at their Facebook for what’s happening, and pop over when you feel like a bit of an after dinner boogie.
